Last year, we introduced you to the Jabra Evolve 75 Earphones (read our review here). For people who work in an “open office” environment, the built-in Active Noise Cancellation and high definition sound make them a solid choice. But many people prefer the design and comfort of earbuds and in September 2017, Jabra introduced the Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds (read the announcement here).
We have now had an opportunity to test the Jabra Evolve 75e Earbuds for ourselves and once again, Jabra does not disappoint.

Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds – Unboxing

Like the Jabra Evolve 75 Headphones, the Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds come packed in a sturdy case to make transporting them to and from the office easy. In the case are the Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds, a USB charging cable, extra earbud tips and earwings, the Jabra Link 370 USB dongle to allow you to connect the earbuds to your Mac or PC, a User Guide and Warranty and Warnings booklet.
There is also a sticker inside the case that gives you access to 30 minutes of Concentration Music. You can hear is at Jabra.com/productivity. You need to register your Jabra product to download the full 90 minutes of music. The music may not be for everyone but it’s a nice added feature for people who enjoy that type of background sound.
The Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds have the same neckband design that is common for these type of audio devices. The earpieces have a combination of tips and earwings, which are separate pieces so you can mix and match sizes for the most comfortable fit.
At the base of the neckband are the various controls. On the right side is the typical three-button controller with the center “multi-function” button and the volume controls on either side. Also on the right side is the microphone used for phone calls.
On the left side, at the base of the neckband is a button to control the Automatic Noise Cancellation (ANC) and the microphone.
We found the location of the controls to be a bit awkware
While we can’t show it to you, if you look closely at the back side of the earpieces, you will notice a series of holes which are actually for the ANC microphones positioned in ear earpiece. According to Jabra, “The outer ANC microphone in each earbud and the lead microphone in the microphone-box work together to create a 60 cm “noise free zone” around you.”
Connecting the Jabra Evolve 75 Wireless Earbuds to our iPhone 7 could not have ben easier. With the Evolve 75e turned off we pressed the multi-function button and a blue LED lights at the top of the control. We then opened the Bluetooth preference panel in iOS and saw the Jabra Evolve 75e listed as a new device. We selected it and the connection was immediately made.
The Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds use Bluetooth 4.2 with a range of about 30 feet for your mobile phone and about 100 feet when using the included USB Bluetooth dongle. The erarbuds can be paired with up to eight devices and supports two simultaneous Bluetooth connections.
Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds – Specifications
The Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds are not just pretty to look at. This is a serious audio device that is designed to handle the daily use of a business environment.
The earbuds contain a 15mm dynamic speaker with a range of 20 Hz – 20 KHz in Music mode. They also contain a “listen-in” feature which allows the wearer to hear ambient sounds without removing the earbuds. A long press of the ANC button on the left side controller turns the ANC function on and off.
Like the larger Jabra Evolve 75 Wireless Headphones, the Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds have an indicator built into the microphone panel that turns red when you are on the phone, or can be manually activated, to alert your co-workers not to disturb you.
The metal rings at the base of the earbuds have magnets inside so they can be easily held together when not being worn. When connected to your phone, putting the earbuds together will your music will pause or end your call.
And, since many modern offices have fitness centers on site, you can take your Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds with you for that mid-day workout as they are IP54 rated to resist sweat and water.
In our testing we found seamless connection to Siri but the Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds are also compatible with Microsoft Cortana and Google Now.
The Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds is certified for Skype for Business, Cisco, Avaya and other UC (Unified Communications) systems.
We found the battery life to be extremely good. It takes about 2 hours for a full charge and that provides about 13 hours of talk time and up to 14 hours of music time, so you should have no trouble getting trough a full day at the office on a single charge.
Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds – Test Results
Wearing comfort is important since most people will be wearing these in the workplace for a good part of the day. We found them to be very comfortable and at just 1.7 ounces (50 grams), you should have no trouble wearing them all day.
As we have said before, selecting headphones, earbuds or any audio device is a very personal decision. That said we found the sound quality of the Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds very good. Music was clear and crisp and voices on phone conversations were very good.
The only issue we experienced was in trying to adjust the volume between music and phone calls. When listening to music, the volume button on the three-button controller worked as expected and we were able to raise and lower the volume as desired. When we switched to a call we found those same volume buttons to mot change the volume of the calls. We ultimately had to use the volume control on the iPhone to adjust the volume. In both cases, the volume was more than ample for both and the ANC worked well to block out surrounding background noise.
The Bottom Line
First and foremost, Jabra is a sound company. Their sister company ReSound GN is one of the leading manufacturers of hearing aids and while we can’t say it with certainly, it would appear that some of the audio technical expertise works its way into the Jabra family of products. We have looked at several Jabra products and find them to be consistently well made and provide exceptional sound quality.
The Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds are not inexpensive. With an MSRP of $259.00 they are only slightly less than the Jabra Evolve 75 Wireless Headphones, but these are not really intended for the casual music listener. The Jabra Evolve 75e Wireless Earbuds is a serious audio device that should definitely have a place on your desk, whether you work at home or in a modern open office environment.
