AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger – Unboxing

Like all of the AUKEY products we have tested, the AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger comes in a plain brown box.

AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger

In the box is the AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger (Model # PA-B2), a multi-language User Manual and the now familiar 24-month warranty card.  Unlike al of the other AUKEY wall chargers we have tested, the AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger comes in white, making it look very Apple-like. That said, there is a lot to this wall charger that may make it a replacement to your OEM Apple charger.

AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger – Specifications

The AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger uses GaN technology which allows it to be about ¼ the size of an Apple charger with similar power. If you are not familiar with GaN technology, check out our earlier AUKEY review which has the details here.

PA-B2 Size Comparison

The charger measures 1.77” x 1.77” x 1.18” (45mm x 45mm x 30mm) and weighs just 3.25oz (92g). That is bout 65% smaller and lighter than a similar power Apple charger.  You could easily slip it into your pocket or purse for easy transport.

The AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger supports Power Delivery 3.0 with fast charging for several iPhone models including the latest  iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.

The AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger is auto switching 100 – 240V 50/60 Hz 1.5A and has a standard U.S. 2-prong folding plug. The single front mounted USB-C port supports DC 5V 3A, 9V 3A, 12V 3A, 15V 3A, 20V 3A and 20.3V 3A.  There is a single LED indicator that lights when the PA-B2 is plugged in. With the higher voltage and 61W output, you could also use the AUKEY 61W PD Wall Charger to charge the iPad Pro and fully  charge a13” MacBook Pro in just 1.8 hours.

AUKEY 100W PD Wall Charger

If 61W output is not enough for your needs, the PA-B2’s big brother AUKEY 100W PD Wall Charger (Model # PA-B5) may be what you need.

AUKEY 100W PD Wall Charger – Specifications

Like the smaller PA-B2, the AUKEY 100W PD Wall Charger comes packed in a similar box and also contains a multi-language User Manual and the 24-month warranty card.

PA-B5 vs. PA-B2
PA-B5 vs. PA-B2

The AUKEY 100W PD Wall Charger measures 2.05” x 2.05” x 1.18” (57mm x 57mm x 32m) and weighs 5.29oz (150g).  While that makes it slightly larger than the PA-B2, it is still about 50% smaller and lighter than Apples 96W charger.

The AUKEY 100W PD Wall Charger uses the same GaN power technology and provides the same Power Delivery 3.0 available in the other AUKEY OMNIA series chargers.

The AUKEY 100W PD Wall Charger uses the same foldable 2-prong U.S. style plug, a single LED power indicator and has self-switching power input of 100-240V 50/60Hz but with 2.5A.  Supported power output is DC 5V 3A, 9V 3A, 12V 3A and 20V 5A.  The AUKEY 100W PD Wall Charger will charge all of the same devices as the smaller PA-B2 but with the 100W power, will also charge the newest 16” MacBook Pro.

AUKEY OMNIA 61W and 100W Chargers – Test Results

If you have followed our site for any length of time, you probably know that we are very caution about recommending third-party power products. However, we have tested enough AUKEY products to know that they are high quality and perform well.  We have personally used a variety of AUKEY chargers with no issues or complaints. We can truthfully say that we have never had any of our Apple products damaged because of our use of AUKEY products.

Our testing of the PA-B2 and PA-B5 Wall Chargers is no exception. We charged our iPhone XS numerous times using both the 61W and 100W models with no issues.  While we do not have the 16” MacBook Pro, we did use the 100W charger to charge our 13” MacBook Pro and it performed as well as the Apple OEM charger.  Because of the smaller size, we keep the 100W PA-B5 charger in our travel bag so it is always ready to go. We slip the 61W PA-B2 in our pocket when we have to run off to a meeting. It’s small size makes it the perfect travel companion when our only concern is a quick power boost.

The Bottom Line

We are living in interesting times and as a result, many of us find we have to be in multiple places. Whether working from home or distant learning part of the week, we have all become more dependent on our technology.  Whether an iPhone, iPad or some version of MacBook, we need to be sure we have the power available to keep them running.

The latest AUKEY OMNIA 61W and 100W Wall Chargers are your perfect companions to keep your Apple gear powered up and ready to go.

The AUKEY OMNIA 61W and 100W Wall Chargers are available directly from the AUKEY web site.

We would like to thank the folks at AUKEY for providing the AUKEY OMNIA 61W and 100W Wall Chargers for our testing and review.
