Top Tech Skills to Land a Job in Apple

The technology industry is growing at an exponential rate. Apple is largely contributing to this with all the products and platforms it launches annually in areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), entertainment, and communications. Last year, Apple’s market capitalization reached $913 billion, higher than that of competitors such as Microsoft, IBM, and Google.

With this growth, the company is expected to hire more tech professionals than ever. If you ever dreamed of working for one of the world’s biggest tech giants, the timing could not have been more perfect. Below are some of the most in-demand tech skills that you can learn to land a job in Apple—and believe it or not, you can do so within just eight weeks.

Machine Learning

Machine learning involves designing algorithms that will allow machines to learn from experience. It is a part of the AI niche that has seen huge growth over the past few years. Apple is already one of the leaders in the specializations, as evident in the creation of chips that are capable of performing certain AI tasks, like recognizing the wake phrase, “Hey, Siri”.

In other words, AI and machine learning are an existing part of many of the selling features in Apple devices. The company has more than 600 open positions related to machine learning. Some of the roles that you can fill include machine learning engineers in the departments of operations and supply chain, software and services, and machine learning and AI.

There are many excellent online courses where you can learn more about machine learning. Springboard, for example, gets you job-ready in just six to nine months. It also allows its students to learn from the comfort of their homes. Graduates from Springboard get an average salary increase of $26,000 annually. Springboard also offers multiple financial options like upfront payments, monthly payments, deferred tuition plan, and Climb Credit loans.

DevOps

DevOps stands for development and operations. As the name suggests, it is a unification of the two departments in one team to improve efficiency when delivering software and applications in a tech organization. Apple is one of the biggest tech companies with multiple services and platforms so it’s only logical to constantly seek the services of DevOps professionals.

Apple has more than 100 job openings for DevOps experts ranging from engineers, operators, planners, cellular protocol engineers, and many more. You can fill one of these roles by mastering the fundamentals of full-stack web development.

A top coding school Codework offers a 12-week full-stack web development that includes lessons in DevOps, continuous deployment, and systems architecture. The school boasts a 100 percent employment rate and an average hiring time of 30 days upon graduation. Codework also offers financing options like deferred tuition, upfront payments, and loans.

iOS Development

iOS is the operating system for all mobile Apple devices. In fact, it is one of the key elements that make Apple devices unique from others in the market. To land a job at Apple’s software development department, you would need to be highly experienced in building iOS apps and software.

Apple is constantly releasing updates to iOS, therefore it needs to employ quite a number of iOS developers to make this possible. Apple currently has more than 600 open positions for iOS developers in various departments including hardware, Apple News, Siri advance development, software and services, and others.

To be an iOS developer, you can enroll in a course or bootcamp that will generally take around four months. DevMountain offers an iOS developer course where students will start building apps on the very first day of the class, and by the end of the lesson, they will have at least one app added to the App Store. Some other perks of DevMountain include housing facilities at no extra cost and outsourced financing options. The application process consists of three parts—filling out an application, participating in a phone consultation, and completing a skill review.

The Bottom Line

Apple is not the only company that has thousands of openings. It doesn’t matter if your dream job is at Apple or any other tech giants—start learning these tech skills now. You can break into tech without upfront investment and end up with a high-paying job by the end of the year. Don’t be afraid to take risks and create your own future.
