Benuo Leather Watch Bands for Apple Watch – Review

The Benuo Leather Watch Bands come packed in in a small box with a fitted foam insert to protect it. Rather than a cardboard cover, the top of the box is sealed with a clear plastic insert that allows the Benuo Leather Watch Band to show through.

Installing the band on our 42mm Apple Watch Series 3 was quick and easy. It is important to note that like several other Apple Watch band manufacturers, the Benuo Leather Watch Bands use an updated adapter which matches the style of the OEM bands that come with your watch or are available from the Apple store.

The original adapter used by many third parties was a three piece unit. Two metal “j” shaped pieces of metal went into the sides of the band and the main adapter that slides into the Apple Watch was attached with two small screws. These screws often came loose and would cause the adapter to become disconnected. We actually experienced this exact failure with another band we tested.

The newer style is a solid piece of metal and the adapter is attached to the end of the band using a conventional jewelers spring bar or in some cases the more modern “easy attach” spring bar.

Beyond the better construction, we think the newer style of adapter looks better and is certainly a nicer complement to a leather watch band.

The photo below illustrates the difference in construction.

We should point out that some of the product pictures advertising the Benuo Leather Watch Bands for Apple Watch still show the older style adapter but our understanding is that they are all being shipped with the newer style.

That said it appears that Benuo only provides the adapters in silver. We were concerned how this would look on our Space Gray Series 3 Apple Watch but as it turns out, it is barely noticeable and some will probably like the slight contrast it provides.

On the other end of the band is the polished clasp. Like the adapter, the clasp is a heavier duty, and higher quality closure.

Finally the stitching on each end of the leather is well done. We found no missed stitches or loose threads.

All-in-all, this has the look and feel of a high quality watch band that is befitting any Apple Watch.

The Bottom Line

The Benuo Leather Watch Bands for Apple Watch should be part of everyone’s watch band collection. They are available in both 38mm and 42mm styles and according to Apple, should have no problem fitting the slightly larger Series 4 Apple Watch.

Each band has 7 holes to adjust the fit. The 38mm bands will fit wrists 130-210mm while the 42mm bands will fit wrists 140-220mm.

The Benuo Leather Watch Bands for Apple Watch come in Black, Brown and Dark Brown and are proced at an amazing $17.99. At that price, you may want to pick up one in each color.

The Benuo Leather Watch Band for Apple Watch is available from Amazon.
